Why We're Called Omeo

A story about resilience.

“Omeo” means “hills” in the language of the Aboriginal people of southeastern Australia.

It’s also the name of a baby koala at the San Diego Zoo—named in honor of his strength after losing his mother in the Australian bushfires. Even after loss and uncertainty, Omeo kept climbing. Kept growing. Kept going.

That story moved us. Because it’s not just about a koala—it’s about resilience.

About navigating life’s highs and lows, the hills and valleys we all walk through.

We chose the name Omeo because it reflects what therapy is really about:

At Omeo, we’re here to honor your journey—wherever you are on it.

Uphill, downhill, or somewhere in between.
